Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new patients?

We proudly welcome new dental patients to our practice. If you have questions about new patient procedures please give us a call.

What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?

Norco Valley Dental follows strict guidelines set by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), American Dental Association (ADA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We practice sterilizing reusable instruments then seal them for the next use. We also disinfect treatment rooms between patient visits and use disposable products when we can. Our dental team wears disposable gloves during every exam and treatment, for the safety and care of our patients.

When is the best time for a child to start seeing a dentist?

We suggest starting a child's regular dental visits at age one. Early detection of tooth decay is the best prevention for future problems. These visits also let the child get used to going to the dentist at an early age so that we can create a happy and positive experience for a lifetime.

What are the signs and symptoms of periodontal infection?

Because periodontal infection grows under your gums, you may have no symptoms at all. Patients with more advanced periodontal disease may experience some of the following symptoms:

How do I know if I am brushing and flossing correctly?

Brushing and flossing properly is the best way to care for your teeth, and many people aren't sure of the correct way to do it. If you are not sure about your brushing and flossing technique, please ask us at your next visit. We would be happy to show you the correct way to keep those pearly whites healthy.

My smile is missing teeth. What do you suggest I do?

We suggest that you schedule a consultation with our dental team as soon as possible. Dr. Martinez will assess your oral health and discuss your dental options for replacement teeth. Most common options include crowns and bridges, partial or full dentures, and dental implants. All of these options will leave you with a smile that is comfortable and natural-looking.

What is the purpose of fluoride?

Plaque bacteria and sugars submit your teeth to acid attacks which breakdown the minerals in your teeth. If enough minerals are not replaced through food and water consumption your teeth will decay. Fluoride helps to strengthen your teeth against this demineralization.
